The round
Chaz Bowker, a short-stature golfer who has played every U.S. Adaptive Open, joined Bryson DeChambeau at Hackberry Creek, and the pair signed for a 53 (−19) with eagles at both ends of the card. A front-nine 27 left plenty to do, and then the back nine took off: seven under for the last five holes. Bowker's 119-yard approach from the rough set up the eagle at the par-5 14th, and at the 16th he drove 250 yards to the fringe and holed the 17-footer for birdie himself. At the 230-yard 18th his tee shot found the green, and DeChambeau rolled in the 12-footer for eagle and a back-nine 26.
